A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

In just a few short months, my parents will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary! They have been married three times longer than I’ve been married! Their wonderful union has been built on love, sacrifice, faithfulness and devotion to each other. It’s tender to watch them in their “golden” years of life. They are simply each other’s best friend.

I love this photograph of their hands:

They remind me of so many wonderful memories:
Driving the carpool
Making yummy cinnamon rolls
Creating homemade dresses
Directing choirs (they both are professional opera singers)
Hugging hurt little girls (they had no boys)
Fixing flat bike tires, weeding a huge garden so we’d have food on the table and squirting a hose during our annual summer water fights.

Thanks, Mom and Dad! You have been a huge source of inspiration for me over the years.

Take a photo of some hands that have been special in your life. I promise it will be one of your most cherished pictures.

There is something about the pictures of hands together that tell such a beautiful story, no matter what the age. I would love to have a picture of my parents hands with their wedding rings on. That’s why it is so important to take the pictures now, as you never know how long you have with that loved one, or how situations change. Simply beautiful!!!

    Lisa,
I know this is a bit late, but what beautiful parents you have! In a world where so many seem to run away at the first hint of trouble or discord in a marriage, your parents have stood the test of time. It’s a blessing. I’m sure your marriage will last just as long. One thing I noted, Your father has the Downs nose. My mother was a Downs, I’m sure if we go back just a little bit, their genealogy intertwines.
Thank you for all you do in this crazy world, to make it more happy, creative, and beautiful.
    Warm regards,
